We were honored to welcome members of the Maurice community to Cecil Picard Elementary School as part of our Black History Month celebration!
Our guests took time out of their day to read inspiring stories to our students, sharing powerful lessons about courage, perseverance, and the importance of honoring history. It was such a meaningful experience for our children to see community leaders and role models investing in their learning.
We are so grateful for the continued support of our Maurice community. Partnerships like these make a lasting impact and help us show our students the strength and unity around them.

Cecil Picard Elementary proudly celebrated Black History Month with a special school-wide parade! 🎉🖤💛💚 Our amazing fourth graders worked so hard designing and creating their very own floats, each one highlighting influential figures, important moments, and the powerful impact of Black history. Mrs. Kyla’s class had a fun-filled day of celebration and creativity! Students enjoyed watching Harvey Rabbit, made adorable Valentine boxes and festive crafts, exchanged Valentines with friends, created heart-shaped King Cakes and tasty trail mix, and wrapped up the day with sweet love potion floats. A day full of fun, friendship, and smiles! 💕🎭🎉
Mrs. Sieghan’s class had a wonderful time celebrating the season! Students made mini King Cakes, learned some fun Zydeco dance moves, and created festive crafts for both Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras. It was a day full of learning, creativity, and celebration! 💜💛💚💗
