Today, we proudly celebrate two incredible women who are the heartbeat of care on our campus, Amy Briolo and Alix Trahan, for National School Nurses Day.
These two do far more than treat bumps and bruises. They bring calm to chaos, compassion to every situation, and a steady presence that our students and staff rely on daily. Whether it’s handling emergencies, offering a reassuring word, or simply being someone students trust, they show up with heart every single time.
Their impact reaches far beyond the walls of the nurse’s office. They help create a safe, supportive environment where our students can focus on learning, growing, and being UNSTOPPABLE.
We are grateful for their dedication, their kindness, and the care they pour into our Pirate family.
Thank you, Amy and Alix, for everything you do for Kaplan High School. 🏴☠️

What a beautiful way to kick off Teacher Appreciation Week at Kaplan High School! Our Unstoppable Eras Bloom Bar was a huge hit, and our teachers absolutely loved it. Each faculty and staff member had the chance to pick a bloom and build their own bouquet, creating a special arrangement to brighten their day, just like they brighten the lives of our students each and every day.
It was a simple, meaningful reminder that the care, dedication, and love our teachers pour into KHS never goes unnoticed. Seeing smiles, creativity, and beautiful bouquets fill the room made for the perfect start to a week of celebrating the incredible educators who help our school bloom.
A very special thank you to Kaplan Flower Market for helping make this event so beautiful. Your generosity and support helped us make our teachers feel truly appreciated.
Here’s to our Unstoppable teachers, rooted in excellence, growing minds, and making a difference every single day. We appreciate you more than words can say. 🏴☠️

This week at Kaplan High School, we are proud to kick off something truly special…
The UNSTOPPABLE ERA’S TOUR.
Every teacher is in an era. Every era tells a story. And at KHS, those stories are what make us who we are.
We celebrate our teachers in their Debut Era, stepping into the classroom, building relationships, and laying the foundation for a career that will impact lives for years to come.
We honor those in their Fearless Era, the ones who take risks, try new strategies, and push students beyond what they thought was possible.
We recognize the strength of our Reputation Era, teachers who have built trust, consistency, and a standard of excellence that defines what it means to be a Pirate.
And we admire the heart behind our Folklore Era, the educators whose stories, wisdom, and quiet impact are woven into the fabric of our school, leaving a lasting mark on every student they reach.
This week is about more than appreciation. It is about recognizing the journey, the growth, and the impact happening in every classroom, every single day.
Because when you put all of these eras together, you get something powerful. You get a school culture that refuses to stand still.
You get a school that is truly UNSTOPPABLE.
Let the tour begin. 🏴☠️

Reminder, TOMORROW night is our annual Athletic Awards Event in the gym. It begins at 6:00 pm. See you all there to celebrate the amazing athletic achievements of our students and coaches.

What a night for our Lady Pirates.
Under a sky that felt just right and in front of a crowd that believed every second of the way, our girls stepped onto that field with one word on their minds… redemption. And they did not just say it, they lived it.
Final score: Lady Pirates 8, French Settlement 5.
This was not just a win. This was grit. This was composure. This was a team that refused to let the moment get bigger than them. Every swing, every pitch, every defensive stand carried purpose. When the pressure came, they answered. When the game tightened, they locked in. When it mattered most, they delivered.
You could feel it from the first inning. The energy, the focus, the unity. This team plays for each other, for this school, and for this community. And last night, they showed exactly what that means.
We are one step closer.
FINAL stop: Tomorrow afternoon in Sulphur. First pitch tomorrow at 3:00 PM. Let’s pack the stands and bring that Pirate energy with us.
This team is not done.

Today, we celebrate a man who doesn't just hold the title of Principal, he lives it. Happy National Principal's Day to the one and only Coach Shay Herpin.
Kaplan High School has seen many principals walk through its doors, but none have left a mark quite like Coach Shay. He leads from the heart. He puts kids first, every single day, without exception. And he bleeds black and gold like no one else ever has.
"A heart full of integrity and a passion for purpose," that is Coach Shay in one breath. He doesn't just run a school. He transforms lives. He creates legends.
He is the definitive definition of what it means to be a Pirate: proud, purposeful, and fiercely devoted to this community. Every student who has walked those halls is better for having him there.
Coach Shay, you are more than a principal. You are the heartbeat of Kaplan High.
Thank YOU for showing up every day with your whole heart. This school, this community, and these kids are your legacy, and what a legendary one it is.

Today, we proudly celebrate National School Lunch Hero Day!
At Kaplan High School, our cafeteria ladies are so much more than cooks. They are the heartbeat of our campus during the busiest part of the day. They greet our students with smiles, serve every meal with care, and bring a spirit of joy, laughter, and kindness that can be felt the moment you walk through those doors.
Their mission is simple, but powerful: put smiles on our students’ faces and fill their bellies with a taste of home. And they do it every single day without fail.
Our cafeteria is one of the most joyful places on campus because of them. The impact they make goes far beyond the plate; they create connections, comfort, and a sense of belonging for our students.
We are incredibly grateful for each of you and the love you pour into our school. Thank you for being true heroes in every sense of the word.

Kaplan High School is proud to welcome home one of our own.
A Lady Pirate returns, and she is bringing something powerful with her.
Casey Broussard.
A Kaplan High alumna. A former Lady Pirate. A name that already carries weight in our program and in this community. Now, she steps in to lead the next era of Lady Pirate Basketball.
After leaving Kaplan, Coach Broussard took her game to LSU Eunice, where she didn’t just play; she made history. Multiple school records. A jersey retirement. The kind of career that demands respect. She then continued at Delta State University, sharpening the same toughness, discipline, and leadership that now define her as a coach.
But what matters most is what she brings back home.
Coach Broussard is not just building basketball players. She builds leaders. She builds accountability. She builds confidence. In the classroom and on the court, she has already proven that she knows how to develop young people the right way.
And now, she is pouring that back into Kaplan.
This is bigger than a hire. This is a full-circle moment for our school, our program, and our community.
Her mission says everything you need to know: “It’s about legacy, pride, and building something that lasts.”
That is exactly what is coming.
Lady Pirate Basketball just got stronger. The standard just got higher. The future just got real.
Get ready, Pirate Nation. ⚔️

Today, April 28, we proudly celebrate National School Bus Driver Day!
Before the first bell rings and long before the classrooms fill, our bus drivers are already hard at work. They are often the very first faces our students see each morning, setting the tone for the day with a simple smile, a kind word, and a steady presence.
Behind the wheel is someone who carries an incredible responsibility, safely transporting what matters most to all of us. Their patience, consistency, and care do not go unnoticed. They navigate early mornings, long routes, and unpredictable conditions, all while making sure our students arrive safely and are ready to learn.
At Kaplan High School, we are grateful for the role they play in shaping each school day. They are a vital part of our Pirate family, and today, we celebrate them.
If you see your bus driver today, take a moment to say thank you. It means more than you know.
We appreciate you, today and every day! 🏴☠️

Kaplan High School said it loud at the start of this year, UNSTOPPABLE, and now we are watching that vision play out on the biggest stage.
Our students didn’t just compete at the State Literary Rally at Louisiana State University; they made their mark. They stepped into a statewide arena and proved that Kaplan High belongs at the top. Kaplan High is SMILING from ear to ear, knowing we led the parish with THE MOST WINS AT STATE RALLY! Way to go, Pirates.
Congratulations to these outstanding Pirates:
Laihani Langlinais, 4th place in Financial Literacy
Matthew Schexnider, 4th place in World Geography
Emily Vidalier, 3rd place in Agriscience III
Wyatt Binion, 3rd place in Physical Science
Bryce Mouton, 3rd place in U.S. History
And our One-Act Play earned a Superior Rating, a true testament to the talent, discipline, and heart of our students and staff.
This is what UNSTOPPABLE looks like. It is preparation, grit, and belief coming together when it matters most. It is students rising to the moment and representing Pirate Nation with pride at the highest level.
We are proud. We are grateful. And we are just getting started.

To our Pirate Baseball family, 🏴☠️
Yesterday, our boys closed out their season in Kinder, and while the final result wasn't what we hoped for, what we witnessed this year was something far greater than any scoreboard could ever measure.
To our entire team, every single one of you, thank you. Thank you for the long practices, the sweat, the grind, and the heart you poured into this program. You made us proud every single time you took the field. That never wavered.
But to our seniors…our hearts are with you today. We see your tears, and we understand them, because they come from a place of deep love, love for this game, love for your teammates, and love for the jersey you wore. That kind of love is rare, and it is beautiful. Please know this: you are seen, you are lifted up, and you are appreciated more than words can ever express.
The lessons you've learned through this program, about perseverance, brotherhood, sacrifice, and playing with everything you've got, those don't stay on the diamond. They go with you. Into every classroom, every job, every relationship, every challenge life puts in front of you. That is The Pirate Way. And you have lived it.
To our incredible community, your support means the world to this program and to these young men. We see you in the stands, we feel you in the cheers, and we are so grateful for every single one of you. Thank you for showing up, season after season.
And now… we have to share something that stopped us in our tracks.
After everything those boys went through yesterday, after the heartbreak of their final game, they came home and made their way straight to the softball field to cheer on our Lady Pirates.
Let that sink in.
If that doesn't bring a tear to your eye, we don't know what will. That right there? That's character. That's selflessness. That's exactly who these young men are. That is UNSTOPPABLE INTEGRITY.
We love you, Pirates. Always.

Tonight, Vermilion Parish School Board took a moment to recognize something truly special, and we couldn’t be more proud.
Junior Hunter Packard was honored for being named BETA State President, and if you know Hunter, you know this moment was earned in every possible way.
Hunter is an absolute force. He walks into a room and changes it. His passion is real. His drive is relentless. His energy is unmatched. He doesn’t wait for opportunities, he creates them. He doesn’t follow the moment, he brings the thunder into it.
What makes this recognition even more powerful is this, Hunter represents more than just himself. He represents Kaplan High School, Vermilion Parish, and what it looks like when a student refuses to be average.
We are watching leadership in action. We are watching someone who is already making an impact far beyond our campus.
Hunter Packard is UNSTOPPABLE, and tonight was just another step in what is going to be an incredible journey.
Pirate Nation is proud.
